Tony Kemplen's project for Artranspennine03 features a three dimensional relief map of the pennines (in which the distance between Manchester and Sheffield is a mere 6 inches). For the exhibition Kemplen intends to document the progress of one or more ants as they explore the transpennine region, revisiting some of the sites used in the first Artranspennine. Evoking the horror of 50s B-movies in which giant killer ants frequently roamed urban and rural areas Kemplen's work challenges the viewer to gain an understanding of the transpennine terrain as eminently navigable
